June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

At Hope for Dementia, we are deeply committed to raising awareness among seniors about the safe use of apps to help prevent online fraud. Our young volunteers in the Intergenerational Learning Program teach seniors how to use various apps on iPads and tablets. They have developed a brochure titled “Protect Yourself Against Fraud,” which you can download here.

Recognizing Abuse of Older Adults and Vulnerable Individuals
Abuse occurs when an attitude, word, action, or failure to act appropriately takes place in a relationship where trust should exist. An abusive situation can be a one-time occurrence or recurring. It can be recognized in a relationship with a person, an organization, or a community. Abuse causes, intentionally or unintentionally, harm or distress to a person.
