There’s a lot of talk—and a lot of silence. While many rightly call for action to address the rising crisis in dementia and to support those affected, stigma keeps people from voicing concerns about their cognitive health. That silence undermines progress.
Hope for Dementia breaks that silence. Learn about the action we are taking to help seniors reduce their dementia risk and potentially prevent or delay diagnosis.
🌟 Community Spotlight: Hope for Dementia Is Reaching More Communities
Hope for Dementia is on the move! Over the past week, our team had the joy of visiting seniors in Baie‑Comeau, Sept‑Îles, and Clarenceville during their weekly gatherings.
These communities are home to English‑speaking Quebeckers who don’t always have access to cognitive‑health support services. Thanks to the generosity of our partner organizations, community members, and government support, more than 200 seniors across 13 townships have now taken part in our Busy Box. Better Brain. program since 2023.
This program encourages older adults to stay:
- Socially connected
- Physically active
- Mentally engaged
These three pillars have been proven to nurture cognitive well‑being—and every visit reminds us how powerful connection can be. When communities come together, hope becomes action.
🎶 Music—A Powerful Tool to Support Memory
“If music be the food of love, play on.”
— William Shakespeare
These timeless words ring true in community spaces across Québec, where seniors are laughing, singing, and rediscovering cherished memories through our music workshops.
Music has become one of the most impactful tools we use to support cognitive health. Why?
- Songs ignite multiple areas of the brain
- Music helps access old memories and form new ones
- Rhythm and melody foster joy, connection, and emotional comfort
For seniors experiencing memory loss, music can be a gentle and uplifting bridge between past and present—a reminder that even when memories fade, the heart remembers.
