🛌 9 – 15 March is Sleep Awareness Week in Canada
🧠 Preserving our brain health
Did you know that sleep plays a crucial role in preventing cognitive decline? This Sleep Awareness Week, Hope for Dementia would like to raise awareness of the importance of good rest in preserving seniors’ brain health.
🌜Sleep, a guardian of brain health
During the night, our brain regenerates itself: it eliminates toxins, strengthens neuronal connections and consolidates memory. Insufficient or poor-quality sleep can accelerate brain aging and increase the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
✨ Good habits for restful sleep
Adopting a lifestyle that promotes quality rest can help prevent dementia:
✅ Maintain a regular sleep routine
📵 Reduce exposure to screens before bedtime
🧘♂️ Practice relaxing evening activities
🛏️ Create an environment conducive to rest (darkness, pleasant temperature, comfort)
At Hope for Dementia, we’re committed to raising awareness and supporting families affected by cognitive disorders. By taking care of our sleep, we protect our brains and our future.
