Hope for Dementia uses an intergenerational service model for all its programs. This model offers young people the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while raising awareness of the contribution and journey of older people, and of reducing the risks of dementia.
Over the past 5 years, more than 50 young people have volunteered more than 1,000 hours with seniors participating in our Intergenerational Learning Program. Youth volunteers teach seniors how to use various applications on iPads and tablets. In turn, the seniors share their life experiences with the young volunteers, while working on creative projects.
