Hope for Dementia held its second annual gala on 5 November 2022 which brought together over 320 guests to raise funds for programs that aim to preserve and promote brain health.
The successful sold-out event was held in the elegant Le Salon Crystal, and was a mix of business networking and entertainment, while building awareness of the urgent need to make dementia prevention a healthcare priority.
Prevention. Deceleration. Reversal. These words were top of mind throughout the event.
Funds raised support Hope for Dementia’s activities and programs that promote dementia prevention, aim to decelerate cognitive decline, and support promising research on the reversal of the symptoms of dementia.
The impressive lineup of speakers from the public, private and scientific sectors endorsed Hope for Dementia’s mission and services, while providing updates on scientific programs, healthcare policy and community support for the organization.
Speakers included the Honourable Kamal Khera, Minister of Seniors, Ms. Emmanuella Lambropoulos, Member of Parliament, Saint-Laurent, Dr. Howard Chertkow, Scientific Director, Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging, Dr. Patricia Debergue, Program Director, Aging in Place Challenge Program, National Research Council Canada, and Mr. Pierre-Olivier Brunelle and Mr. Kelvin Mo, President and out-going President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mount-Royal and Saint-Laurent.
Filmmaker Albert Nerenberg led the audience through an entertaining, participatory exercise to demonstrate the connection between physical activity and mental responses. Music provided by DJ Mario with performances by Louis Demers Productions had the guests dancing until the late hours of Saturday night.
Hope for Dementia continues to expand the growing community of policymakers, scientists, businesspersons, caregivers, and volunteers, in Québec and throughout Canada, who came together to make the second annual gala a resounding success.
A big THANK YOU to all our speakers, ambassadors and volunteers.
