On December 11, 2023, a holiday lunch was held to mark the end of Hope for Dementia’s Mindful Eating for Healthy Minds program for 2023 at the Saint-Laurent Recreation Centre. The program aims to mitigate the risks of dementia through healthy eating.
We welcomed more than 60 seniors from four residences: the Résidence Soleil Manoir Saint-Laurent, Place St-Moritz, Résidence l’Alto and Demeures Sainte-Croix. These seniors have participated in the program activities, which included workshops on mindful eating, recipes with brain healthy meals and group meal preparation.
The lunch was a great success. Brain-healthy food was served from the buffet. Activities included a raffle, singing Christmas carols and the preparation of desserts by the guests provided many moments of laughter and joy.
We ended this lunch with good wishes for next year, and with guests looking forward to participating in the program in the coming year.
The Mindful Eating for Healthy Minds program is funded by Employment and Social Development Canada’s New Horizon for Seniors Program and a generous grant from the Gloria Baylis Foundation.
People before Patients and the ABC Centre (Centre d’Action bénévole et communautaire St-Laurent) collaborated with Hope for Dementia to implement the program.
