Hope for Dementia was founded in 2015 with a big vision to bend the growth curve in dementia diagnoses. We knew that that this ambitious goal would require the consistent support of a network of concerned citizens.
From Day 1, Mr. Mohammed Barkat has stood with Hope for Dementia, amplifying the message and mission to promote and protect thecognitive health of our aging population.
Mr. Barkat has, without hesitation, year after year, rallied the support and contribution of his social and professional networks to build visibility and to raise funds for Hope for Dementia.
His message has been consistent: Dementia diagnostic rates have not slowed down. Action must be taken to slow the growth of dementia through awareness and prevention programs.
Fati Davoudi, Executive Director, Hope for Dementia, presented Mr. Barkat with the special Distinguished Ambassador of the Year Award.

In accepting the award at Hope for Dementia’s Gala 2023, Mr. Barkat made an impassioned plea to guests to maintain regular contact with their aging parents.
Frequent contact breaks social isolation, which is a risk of dementia.
Being in regular contact also helps to identify early warning signs of dementia. He also reminded guests that dementia not only impacts patients and the health care system, but also caregivers.
We are all in this together!
At the end of his speech, Mr. Barkat received a standing ovation for his dedication and outstanding efforts to bring hope for dementia.
