Finding new and creative ways to work with our community to raise awareness about Dementia is something we strive for at HFD. Our goal is to raise awareness and support with our community and that means reaching out and connecting. In collaboration with the director of la galerie Exhib-Art, Edvige Persechino, and local artists, Hope For Dementia has curated a collection of paintings that can be purchased in our Etsy shop to support our mission. Art is a beautiful medium through which we can share our feelings and represent the things we often find difficult to say. Through this collaboration we are not only raising awareness about our own cause, but also supporting our community of local artists. With your purchase of a painting you not only help us toward our goal of providing early and accurate cognitive testing and treatment for people with Dementia, but you also directly support the artists who have donated their time and effort, and you receive a beautiful piece of art that reminds you of your support in return.
The title of the collection is “Trous de Memoire”, named and inspired by the debilitating feeling of the loss of memory that Dementia and its related illnesses cause. “Trous de Mémoire” is a collection of paintings donated to Hope For Dementia by the talented artists of La galerie Exhib-Art, who wanted to make a difference in the lives of the people suffering with neurodegenerative diseases. They capture the feeling of losing one’s memories through their work. Each piece is painted on pegboard to symbolize the holes that develop in one’s memory when suffering from Dementia. These artists take on a different perspective of this trauma of memory loss and showcase their talents through the concept of memory. The variations of subject matter and technique illustrates the wide range of emotions and memories that Dementia affects in people’s lives. To purchase one of these moving pieces you can visit our Etsy shop, Hope For Dementia, and make a difference in the lives of the people suffering with this life-altering disease.
In anticipation for the upcoming holiday season, consider giving a gift that gives back and support local!
